… And a way in which the objects and the background seem to intertwine with each other, having a diffuse aspect, so suitable and suggestive for the oil technique, as can be seen in the Baia Mare landscape of Lidia Agricola.
The artist, known today primarily for her socialist realism works, made during the communist period, reveals in this work a completely different style and sensitivity than that which can be seen in the works carefully constructed and loaded figuratively with workers or dissidents.
The monumental landscape presents the bank of the Săsar river, in whose foreground are represented the bare trees, whose rhythmic branches are projected on the sky. The image is built on the contrast between the dark contours of the branches and the wavy shapes of the landscape, shapes rendered in pastel colors. The whole image is treated with wide brush strokes.
